Randall Haynes
Congratulations to Randall Haynes on the successful defense of his master thesis at Florida State University. Mr. Haynes thesis subject is the baroque trumpet, and it includes a new edition of Graupner's Sinfonia for 2 Trumpets, Strings and Basso continuo in D major, GWV 511, which will be published by Brian Clark's Prima la musica!
Dr. Bernhard Schmitt
Christoph Graupner's cantata texts were published by the Darmstadt court prior to the performance, but most of these cantata "year books" were destroyed in 1944. Dr. Schmitt is currently transcribing the cantata texts, working with several music editors and providing his expertise on 18th century German handwriting, which is very difficult to read, even for native German speakers. Several projects are only possible because of Dr. Schmitt's efforts. Please accept our gratitude for all your hard work Dr. Schmitt!!
A new Carus Verlag CD of Graupner Advent & Christmas cantatas. Florian Heyerick will be conducting Mannheimer Hofkapelle, and Ex Tempore, including soloists Amaryllis Dieltiens, Lothar Blum, Stefan Geyer. The CD will be available in 2010. Please be sure to visit Maestro Heyerick's wonderful Graupner website!
